dogsledding

stacey and i went dogsledding this weekend. not really, but we volunteered to work at the end of the big dogsled race this weekend. we were off on our lonesome, in the woods, right on lake superior. it was fantastic. big oil drum. started a fire. brought flashlights and read and listened to music. it was great. we actually stayed long after the last team came through. it was a little funny though cause we expected to see these teams just racing through. but, as we were on the last mile of a 200 mile race (i think), the dogs were moving at a pace a little faster than i walk, in foot deep snow. but, it was still great. i love these times the best. being alone in the woods with stacey around a fire talking and reading and comparing what music we're listening to. by the way, i've been reading short stories by robert olen butler. check him out, he's really good. we were actually trying to figure out ways to camp out in the woods this time of year, but we couldn't figure out how to bring enough wood with us to burn all night. there is no way we'd get any sleep in this cold. anyways, we had an awesome time. these are our pictures.

The fun thing about you guys is your sense of adventure. It is cool that you volunteered to work the dogsled race. A cold night, a campfire and each others company......priceless.
Jas, I didn't know that Midnight Special was a remake from Leadbelly. And I also like Iron and Wine. Good music. We bought a Jimmy Dillon cd, he is from west Michigan and performed at the Fat Tuesday party, and I also want to get a Buckwheat Zydaco cd. Iv'e got the ride up to Black Lake this Sunday so I want to have some good music to listen to. I think you would Like Jimmy Dillon, Iv'e got a signed copy of " Bad and Blue". If you want I will burn you a copy. I hope this message makes it up to the satalite and beams down to Marquette. b.b.

awesome. i'd love to here the jimmy dillon. steve just recently mentioned leadbelly to me so i've been listening to him today while studying and if you can get over the poor recordings, he is really great. I think that he wrote a lot of tunes that blues and rock guys covered. I noticed one today that Taj Mahal covered. I htink its called leavin' trunk, or packin' trunk. anyways, i'm glad your message was beamed down to marquette right. talk to ya soon.

Today is the first day of Spring Training games! I was bored in class the other day and did my preseason predictions and Detroit Tigers are on top of the Central. Sheifield is a great addition and those young arms are something that every organization would love to have. I love baseball no sport is like it. If i could watch baseball and listen to rock n' roll all day i would be living the dream.
